KBS adds new C-Taper Lite shaft with parallel tip

Published

on

The C-Taper Lite shaft KBS released in June is now available in a parallel-tip model that complements the original tapered-tip design.

The shaft has the same mid-launch, mid-spin performance as the original C-Tape Lite tapered tip shaft but comes comes with a parallel tip in 108.5, 118.5 and 125-gram weights.

“The addition of the C-Taper Lite parallel tip shaft assists in diversifying our line,” said Kim Braly, director of R&D and Tour Operations at KBS. “Despite this being a lighter weight shaft, the C-Taper Lite actually fits a large amount of strong players.”

C-Taper Lite parallel tip shafts can be purchased through the KBS fitter network. Check out the full KBS C-Taper Lite specs below.

Is there an advantage of one over the other or is just the two different hosel widths?

Have these in my irons in taper tip. They are great. Mid launch great feel. Very consistent. More consistent than my swing.

Will these make my shots go further into the woods?

About five years ago, you could get almost any steel shaft with parallel tip.
Now it is getting harder to find them in component catalog.
    Taper tips are taking over.
True Temper offers almost no parallel tip other than TT Dynamic Gold.

Great. I have a taper tip in 3 iron and love it. Only problem is the price, over forty bucks a piece is a joke

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
