Adidas unveils ‘The Science Behind the Technologies’ video series

Published

on

Adidas Golf has released the first of a series of six videos that highlight the science behind their technologies in footwear and apparel.

John Brenkus, the creator of “Sport Science,” brings the science behind each innovation to life as host of the series. In the first installment, Jason Day was subjected to a series of tests to simulate the cold weather that both professional and amateur players experience on the course throughout the year.

Day was tested both with and without Adidas’ new ClimaWarm + Jacket for consistency and accuracy, and his performance was closely measured with highly advanced data capturing tools.

In the second installment, the cushioning properties of the adidas Pure 360 shoe is put to the test by Dustin Johnson.

I’m curious how shooting spurts of cold air at Jason Day proves anything. He gets hit with cold air, then walks over to, what I assume is, the warm or room temperature area. Then, hits 5-10 drivers. Wouldn’t a better test be for him to hit the balls in a room that is actually cold? I’m not a scientist, but this seems to be a very weak test at best. However, that jacket looks nice, and I’ll probably buy it.

Let me get this straight, if it’s cold outside, I should wear a jacket? No b*llsh*t?

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
